ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has established two dedicated helplines as part of authority’s anti-dengue fever campaign in the federal capital.

The civic agency has requested the residents to contact the CDA Sanitation Directorate (SD) on the helpline number 1334 in case of water accumulation on roads or streets around their homes, while any dengue patients needing assistance can contact the CDA Health Services Directorate (HSD) could be contacted on 051-9267582-3.

The SD has also been directed to promptly react to any such complaint received from locals and carry out proper drainage of accumulated water.

Meanwhile, the HSD has requested residents to take every possible precautionary measure including wearing long-sleeve shirts and full length trousers, use of mosquito screens or nets in rooms that are not properly covered or air-conditioned, and placing mosquito repellents near doors and windows.

Due to heavy monsoon rains, the chances of breeding of mosquitoes have increased manifold and the authority is in the process of formulating a comprehensive plan for its prevention during the months of September and October.

Water containers, wells and water storage tanks should be covered and drains should be kept free of blockages while all uneven ground surfaces should be filled to prevent accumulation of stagnant water, according to the HSD.
