PM denies Javed Laghari another term as HEC chairman

ISLAMABAD:
The Prime Minister on Saturday turned down a request for extending the tenure of Higher Education Commission (HEC) chairman Javed Laghari, Express News reported.

Appointed as chairman in August 2009, Laghari's term will end on August 26 this week.


Express News correspondent Zaigham Naqvi informed that the Ministry of Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education had sent a summary to the prime minister on extending Laghari's tenure for another four years.

Naqvi said that according to Ministry sources, the premier had rejected the request.
