KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) asked the Sindh Rangers authorities to settle the issue of utilising private land adjacent to the Government Jamia Milia Degree College or vacate the premises within one week.

Headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, the bench passed this direction while hearing the petition of a private person whose three-acre property is being utilised by the paramilitary troops the past several years.

Jahangir Ali told the judges that the college’s administration had given its land to the Rangers and also allowed them using adjacent piece of land that belongs to him.

On Friday, Rangers colonel Javed Hussain Khan informed they would comply with court’s order and vacate the land but immediate evacuation is not possible without making alternate arrangements.
