ISLAMABAD:

The police have yet to find any clues that can lead them to the murderer of a shop owner in the federal capital.

Chaudhry Ghulam Mustafa, owner of Step In store in F-10 Markaz, was killed on August 16 when an unknown person shot him inside his store.

Shalimar police has not been able to track down the suspected killer yet. They are also not completely certain about the murderer’s motives, although they had initially claimed the incident could be related to personal enmity.

Investigation Officer Amir Umar said the investigations were hampered because Mustafa’s wife and children are his only survivors in Islamabad and they did not know much about his activities outside the home.

Umar said traders in F-10 Markaz, who have demanded police arrest Mustafa’s killer, have also not been able to help the police look for leads because Mustafa was not a very social person and used to manage the counter at his shop himself. He said the investigations would proceed when Mustafa’s family returns from Sialkot, where they had gone to bury his body in his ancestral town.

On August 16, a man described by witnesses as being tall, well-dressed and in his thirties, walked into Mustafa’s shop, purchased a juice box and walked out. The man then returned to the shop, immediately opened fire at Mustafa without saying anything, and then fled the scene. Mustafa was shot five times, according to the medical report.
