FAISALABAD:

Cases have been registered against six police officials, including the Lundianwala station house officer (SHO), on murder charge on Thursday.

Police officials said Lundianwala police had arrested Muhammad Danish, a resident of Syedwala, in a murder case on Sunday.

Danish fainted during interrogation and was taken to Jaranwala tehsil headquarters hospital and then Allied Hospital Faisalabad on Monday where he died.

On Wednesday, his father Ghulam Muhammad and some relatives staged a protest demonstration in front of the city police officer’s office and demanded action against police officials who had interrogated Danish.

Operation SSP Ghulam Mubasshar Mekan, who met the protestors, assured them that action would be taken against the culprits and advised Muhammad to file a complaint against the suspects.

On Thursday, Muhammad filed the complaint. It was forwarded to CPO Abdur Razzaq Cheema who directed Lundianwala police to register murder cases against the accused officers.

Cases were then registered against SHO Malik Muhammad Hussain, Investigation in officer Abbas Bhatti, investigation In Charge Mehr Manzoor Hussain and three constables.

The CPO has appointed Inspector Anjum Saqib Ghumman as the new Lundianwala SHO.
