Asif suffers shock loss in ranking event

IBSF world champion Mohammad Asif experienced contrasting fortunes in the ongoing fifth NBP Ranking Snooker Championship as he suffered a shock 4-3 loss to Babar Masih at the NBP Sports Complex.


At one point, Babar had threatened to win by a substantial margin of 3-1.

However, Asif staged a comeback by winning the next two frames to bring back parity at 3-3. Babar though proved his winning form with scores of 68-51, 71-40, 42-67, 77-01, 01-87, 32-76 and 58-32.

Meanwhile, in another match, Shahid Aftab thrashed seasoned campaigner Naveen Perwani 4-1, while Abu Saim won by a similar scoreline against Mohammad Bilal.


Imran Shehzad pipped Bahadur Khan 4-3, while Mohammad Sajjad came out on top against the talented Sultan Muhammad in a seven-setter, winning with scores of 21-70, 56-13, 54-63, 16-62, 76-64, 63-02 and 77-18.

Farhan hits 129-point break

In one of the most entertaining matches of the day, Farhan Noor defeated Sohail Shehzad 4-3 as both cueists tried to chalk up big breaks.

The match was evenly poised at 3-3, when Farhan shifted gears and went to score a 129-point break to seal victory with scores of 60-67, 103-12, 62-07, 29-101, 77-06, 44-53 and 130 (129)-00.

On the other hand, in a clash of young guns, Humza Akbar won 4-3 against Mohsin Amin, while Abdul Sattar also triumphed in similar fashion against Amir Rasheed.
