Restrictions: Section 144 imposed on visitors in Palai Dam
Ban was imposed after a resident complained about the deteriorating law and order.
TANGI:
The district government of Charsadda imposed Section 144 on visitors in Palai Dam, Tangi teshil on Thursday.
During his visit to the dam, Deputy Commissioner of Charsadda Tahir Abbas announced the restriction after a resident complained about the deteriorating law and order situation and increasing number of boats.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tangi, Abdur Rasheed Khan said the police and district government have received multiple complaints from the area near the dam, which borders Mohmand Agency.
Tourists visit the dam and go boating which irks tribesmen as it is against their traditions for men and women to mingle publicly, said locals. They demanded a ban on visitors, especially those wanting to go boating.
Along with imposing Section 144, the district government hinted at establishing a police check post to restrict people from going near the tribal areas and avoid any possible scuffle. Any violators of the imposed restrictions will be dealt with according to Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, said the deputy commissioner.
