The ATC on Wednesday headed by Justice Chaudhry Munir Butt ruled that the alleged militants be released in the absence of any substantial proof against them.
No witnesses appeared during the court proceedings.
The three militants were identified as Muhammad Ismail, Muhammad Naeem and Ghulam Mustafa Qaiserani. They had been arrested from the sub-district Taunsa whereas Qaari Obaidullah from North Waziristan was declared a squander and has been termed a proclaimed offender.
Naeem is also wanted for the target killing of Shias in District Chakwal, sources told Express Tribune.
They had earlier been arrested in connection to the 2009 suicide attack which targeted Shias near imambargah Ali Johar, Dera Ghazi Khan, during the chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain.
27 people were killed in the blast and 85 were injured. Ten of the critically injured also died in the week following the blast.
It was revealed that 48 people became disabled because of the attack.
The police had arrested the members of the gang that were alleged to be behind the attack. It had also arrested three members of TTP Punjab Chapter, the investigations of which were led by DPO Dera Ghazi Khan Omar Akhtar Laleeka.
DCO Dera Ghazi Khan, Ali Bahadur Qaazi has ordered house arrest for the three suspects for a period of 30 days upon their release.

well done by punjab courts, arrested people in 2009 , put them in jail and release in 2013. these people 5years of these peoples are wasted.
If our courts take 4/5 years to proceed then certainly there will be no witnesses. Efforts to arrests the culprits take lot of life's. Shame on our courts. Results will always be like this and culprits acquitted honorably.
Where CJ now. Our brothers in arms give their live capturing ther culprits and what happens, the judicial system let's them go. Well done CJ.
@Faisal Ashfaq: Free judiciary in case of Taliban means -it will let them go free whatever they do.And each such case is giving them more incentive to kill citizens more freely.
Everybody is moaning and yelling if the legal system of Pakistan is working perfectly. In a country where there is no justice don't expect to be an exception either be it Shiat or anyone else.
Just like Hafiz Saeed "Saab"
"No witnesses appeared during the court proceedings"
Pakistan has no witness protection program and nobody will dare to challenge the terrorists if they want to stay alive. Our security forces also avoid confrontation with these animals. Start bringing dead bodies of the innocent victims to the courts so the judges can make wise decisions.
lolx at the free judiciary... this so called free judiciary has done more harm to this country then the taliban.
If there was no evidence against them, then they could be REALLY innocent?
Well done independent judiciary
Those terrorists were released because of two things: 1)Judges didn't wanted to die 2)Pakistan Government did not want to get embarassed again if another DI Khan happens.
@Jibran: Well said. I second you.
Has the court punished anyone ever? What is the point of catching them, we need to be harsh at least in the beginning to teach terrorists a lesson, there must be a zero tolerance for any crime. Pakistan is loosing its grip, if this goes on I don't see a bright future.
@Jibran: agreed
Another bad decision by the courts; we will never learn. These terrorists will come back to haunt us like all other released terrorists in the past.
@Adnan:
Honestly, sometimes I think its more to do with religious and sectarian leanings and biases rather than political interests.
@Adnan: Same goes for the minorities. The imported version of Islam has hijacked the indigenous people of this land of the pure.
Hallelujah! No law for these criminals. Why they have to talk to the government? About what? They already have the best of both worlds.
what the use of arresting criminals and terrorist when they are released by the talibans sympathiser dominated judiciary...
Prosecution is the weakest link in our criminal justice system.
Court acquits 3 suspects in 2009 DI Khan suicide attack
And once again all is well in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Zazakallah.
Labbaik-Ya Hussain!
We are born Shia in Pakistan to fight a continuous war of survival..... there is a visible lack of hatred against our killers owning to vested political interests.
