Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen’s manager Steve Robertson insisted the former has multiple options for 2014 despite being ruled out of the Red Bull seat, according to ESPNF1.
Reports have claimed that Daniel Ricciardo will be replacing Mark Webber at Red Bull, and with this news, Robertson confirmed that talks between Raikkonen and the world champions had come to a close. But Robertson has made it known that this by no means would put an end to his driver’s future options.
“We are pretty confident that Kimi will be in Formula One next year,” he told Autosport. “There are options – and that is plural – out there and I will continue to talk to teams. I am hopeful we will sort something out in the not too distant future.”
Earlier, rumours had paved way linking Raikkonen to Ferrari, but the Italian team recently stated that it was ‘not giving any thought to the driver-market situation’.
Meanwhile, Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa have expressed their enthusiasm towards a return to the ‘very special’ Spa-Francorchamps circuit this weekend, according to Sky Sports.
The Belgian venue is one of the four to still be part of the Formula One calendar since its inaugural season in 1950, and it poses an exciting challenge for drivers.
“One lap of Spa is like twenty at any other track, in terms of the excitement and adrenaline it generates,” said Alonso.“It is a very special circuit and the track makes it a really fantastic experience for a driver.”
