Tennis: Aqeel progresses to second round

Aqeel Khan began his campaign at the third Syed Tajamul Abbas Memorial Tennis Championship 2013 with a win against Muhammad Ahmed 6-1, 6-1 in the men’s singles event in Islamabad yesterday.
Imad Amir also cruised into the second round with a win against Hassan Riaz 6-3, 6-2, while Mudassir Murtaza defeated Saad Mubarak 6-1, 6-4.
In other matches, Malik Abdul Rehman outplayed veteran player Mehboob Khan 6-0, 6-2 and Muhammad Abid outclassed Zaryab Pirzada 6-0, 6-1. Second-seed Yasir Khan also progressed with his first-round win over Inamullah 6-3, 6-4. Meanwhile, Aman Atiq defeated Hamza bin Rehan 6-1, 6-3 in the boys’ U18 singles event.
