ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday announced that five security officials would be deployed at 'normal' polling stations whereas seven security officials in addition to army officials would be deployed at all polling stations declared 'sensitive', Express News reported.

The ECP decided on Monday to go ahead and hold by-elections in all 42 constituencies on August 22, despite flooding and security threats.

The decision, which was made at a meeting of the ECP chaired by acting Chief Election Commissioner Tassadiq Hussain Jilani, came after the commission turned down requests for postponement of by-elections in some constituencies of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had called for the deployment of army personnel at all polling stations in the country on August 22, and not just the “sensitive” ones identified by the ECP.
