Targeted killings: Arshad Pappu’s ‘aide’ gunned down by assailants

Shootings claimed at least ten lives in parts of the city.

An alleged gangster and a woman among five others were killed in separate acts of targeted killings and violence in parts of the city on Sunday.


The criminal, a close aide  to the slain notorious gangster of Lyari, Arshad Pappu, was gunned down inside a house in Shafi Mohammad Baloch Goth the remits of Shah Latif police station. The police officials have confirmed that the deceased identified as 28-year-old Jamil Lashari, son of Abdul Hameed, was a close aide to Arshad Pappu.

The police further told The Express Tribune that the deceased was a resident of Lyari and was currently in hiding in Shah Latif area along with his relatives following the killing of Pappu allegedly by rival group members.



The police personnel claimed that some unidentified people entered the house and shot him multiple times. His body was later taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.

The police stated that they were still in the process of gathering the criminal’s record, while the initial investigation suggested that his rival group members were behind this shootout.

Meanwhile, in another instance, a young man was found dead at Mirza Adam Khan Road in Lyari, within Kalakot police station remits. The police have reported that the body was placed in a gunny bag after being approached by the residents. The police officials while quoting the initial investigation said that the deceased was shot to death after being abducted by some unidentified people. The body was moved to Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth for identification.



Another young man identified as Amjad, 35, son of Subhan was shot dead by armed men in Buffer Zone area within the limits of Taimuria police station. The police officials revealed that the deceased lived in North Karachi and at least two armed men riding a motorcycle shot and killed him when he was on his way with his wife. The police reported that the deceased was shot once in the head. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. The officials further said that the motive behind this incident has yet to be ascertained.

Rizwan, a 35-year-old rickshaw driver, son of Abdul Rasheed, was shot dead after unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at his rickshaw in Nazimabad No. 4 within the limits of Rizvia police station. The police have said that the deceased lived in North Karachi, however, the motive behind his killing has yet to be ascertained.

In another incident, a young woman was found dead from Mawach Goth area of Baldia Town’s Saeedabad. The woman was later identified as 21-year-old Uroosa, wife of Zeenatullah Khan. The police said that the woman was shot and killed by some unidentified people, however, the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
