BATKHELA: The Malakand Levies arrested a doctor, who was allegedly involved in negligence resulting in the death of a minor at headquarters hospital.

Family members staged a demonstration against the doctor and blocked Malakand-Swat Road for all traffic for three hours. An official, on the condition of anonymity, said the doctor was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. Rehmani Gul, father of the deceased child while talking to reporters, said that he admitted his daughter Kainat at the hospital late on Saturday because of high fever but the doctor, Dr Sher Ali was not present on duty and his daughter eventually died.

Later, their relatives took her body to the road and demanded arrest and strict action against the doctor. Assistant Commissioner Imran, Subedar Major Gul Roz Khan, hospital officials and trade union representatives held successful talks with the protesters and the doctor also handed himself to levies which caused the crowd to disperse finally.
