Hindus from around Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) will converge in Peshawar to celebrate Raksha Bandhan at Kalibari temple.
Talking to The Express Tribune, All Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement Chairman Haroon Sarab Dayal said after a long time the community’s elders have decided to make Raksha Bandhan a grand event. The day will be marked on August 21 this year.
“We collectively celebrate the Raskha Bandhan festival in Peshawar and this year, the elders have decided to celebrate with Hindus from around the province at Kalibari temple. It will be a grand event for everybody,” he said, adding the celebrations will last 15 days.
Hindus from Nowshera, Mardan and other parts of the province are expected to come to Peshawar to participate in the celebrations, informed Dayal.
Raksha Bandhan is a centuries-old festival of Hinduism in which sisters tie ‘rakhi’- a sacred thread to their brothers. The festival is meant to celebrate the bond between siblings but is not restricted to sibling as women can tie a rakhi to any man who is like a brother to her. The festival is also observed by Jains and Sikhs.

Secular Pakistan, donot worry. Many Hinue girls have tied the Raksha to Muslim and Christian boys.
@Goggi, if 1/2 the population thought 1/2 as reasonably as you, instead of considering there pre-Islamic past, when the Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads were composed in the land of the 5 rivers , as dark-ages, this subcontinent would have had a very different present. There is no shame in acknowledging the past , there is shame in denigrating it.
The Hindus of Pakistan preserve the world´s oldest natural religion! This natural religion has evolved naturally in the course of our millenniums-old Indus civilization culture. They are our common pre-Islamic past and should be regarded as our precious heritage. Iranians are very proud of their pre-Islamic golden Zoroastrian roots and Nauroz is their most beloved festival. In fact the name Iran is derived from Arya(n). How many Egyptians shall we find who are not proud of their millenniums-old Pyramids, pharaohs or Cleopatra? And they do also celebrate their pre-Islamic festival of Sham el-Nessim! Why are we Pakistanis so ashamed of our roots and cannot celebrate festivals together with our Hindu brothers and sisters? We are the progenies of the same magnificent tree which the world regards as the mother of civilizations and wisdom.

Raksha Bandhan is independent of Religion. I am a Hindu guy and a Muslim girl tied Rakhi to me last year in Karachi.
