Chaman route unaffected

Logistic support to Nato forces is continuing from Chaman without interruption.

QUETTA:
The logistic support to Nato forces stationed in Afghanistan was continued from Chaman, a bordering township with Afghanistan, without interruption. However, around 70 containers were stopped by customs officials due to incomplete documentation in the border town.

The supply line from Chaman was not disrupted like Torkham on the eastern borders of Afghanistan as it continued on Tuesday. Customs officials intercepted 70 containers during the past three days due to incomplete documentation.

Oil tankers and containers were seen crossing the border in Chaman town. “We have sent 40 oil tankers from Karachi to Afghanistan today,” said a representative of Al-Haj Enterprises Limited while talking to The Express Tribune. He said that three transport companies are engaged in the Nato supply and the containers of one of the companies have been stopped due to a problem with the documents.

A Chaman based journalist, Nimat Saradi said that containers are not being stopped at the Chaman border except for those without complete papers.
