Energy shortage: Govt leads energy conservation drive

The conversion of lights into LED will save over Rs6 million annually.

KARACHI:
A memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to convert all the lights of Governor House into LED under an environment friendly policy. The conversion of lights into LED will save over Rs6 million annually. Under the pact, Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) and Philips will jointly convert the internal and external electricity load into LED lights at the Governor House. The MoU ceremony was attended by Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Principal Secretary Mohammad Hussain Syed, Military Secretary  Aqeel Nisar, KESC’s CEO Nayar Iqbal, Executive Director Dr Naveed and Chief of Staff Osama Qureshi. The move is part of the government’s efforts to promote the use of energy conservation methods through leading by example, at a time when Pakistan is going through its worst energy crisis.
