The strike call by the nationalist party, Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz, went largely unheeded in Upper Sindh as commercial activities remained open in most cities except Dadu, Moro, Naushero Feroze and Larkana.
Following the cracker attacks near the office of the Khairpur deputy commissioner on Tuesday, Rangers and Police personnel raided several areas in the city and arrested activists of the. According to Rangers sources, one of the suspects detained, Yousuf Memon, was allegedly involved in the cracker attacks.
On Tuesday night, unidentified men hurled cracker bombs at six different sites but no casualties were reported. A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Larkana where the main markets remained closed throughout the day.
Separately, unidentified men hurled cracker bombs near the Girls Degree College, New Chowk, near a bakery on the main road and near the irrigation office in Dadu. Two people were reportedly injured in the blast near the bakery. On Wednesday, a complete shutter-down strike was observed in Dadu where a group of nationalists burnt tyres and went around the city forcing shopkeepers to shut down their shops.
