K-P extends Afghan repatriation deadline by two years

It has been decided to issue NADRA registration cards to Afghan refugees up to December 2015.

PESHAWAR:
The government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and tribal affairs has extended the date of Afghan refugees’ repatriation up to December 31, 2015 on Tuesday.

With the approval of the federal cabinet, it has been decided to issue registration cards to Afghan refugees by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) up to December 2015.


The provincial police officials, the seven divisional commissioners across the K-P, UNHCR officials along with the commissioner for Afghan Refugees in K-P and CCPO Peshawar among regional police officials have been informed to ensure an end to harassment of Afghan refugees holding registration cards.

The previous deadline had expired on June 30, 2013.
