‘Underworld’ contract killers arrested

The two are allegedly involved in crimes including murder of Advocate Sardar Zulfiqar and several kidnapping cases.

KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit of the city police arrested two wanted criminals on Tuesday with hit-lists of builders.

According to SP Raja Umer Khatab, a police party raided a spot in Pak Colony, where the suspects opened fire on the police. Following a brief encounter, two men were arrested. The police also confiscated illegal weapons from the suspects’ possession.

Khatab identified the apprehended men as Haidar Ali alias Wali Mohammad and Mansoor alias Lara. They were allegedly involved in crimes including the murder of Advocate Sardar Zulfiqar and several kidnapping cases.

“We have been following them for a while,” said the SP. He also said that the accused are members of a gang called Underworld. The police believe that the suspects have an accomplice who is in hiding in Karachi.

According to the confessions of the accused, they were working for a man named Nadeem, who operates from Dubai. “Their accomplice, Shoaib, received orders directly from Nadeem and would pay these men to carry out his work,” said the SP.

The police claim to have a recovered a hit-list during the interrogation, which primarily had the names of well-known builders. They were unable to disclose any names on the list for security reasons. The Garden police lodged three FIRs against the arrested suspects.
