Heavy rains bring Rawalpindi, Islamabad to standstill
Access to Rawalpindi and Islamabad was cut off for some time.

Heavy rainfall in Rawalpindi and Islamabad resulted in significant flooding of many areas in the twin cities, Express News reported on Tuesday.
Around 190mm of rain was recorded between 7:15 and 8:30am.
Access to Rawalpindi and Islamabad was cut off for some time as Faizabad Interchange filled up with water as did Nainta Avenue.

The height of flooding in Nala Lai started off at 24 feet but rose to 25 feet later in the day. Water in Gowal Mandi went up to around 21 feet but reduced to less than 20 feet later. Javaid colony also recorded flooding of up to 10 feet.
Kataryan also experienced flooding of 24 feet.
People took refuge from the rainwater on their roofs in these areas.
The army, civil defense and rescue 1122 teams were actively involved in relief work, including evacuation and rescue operations. Despite their efforts, the twin cities have faced a lot of destruction and damage.
Evacuation efforts were made in low lying areas and areas hit hardest by the rain. Rainwater and sewage flooded houses in the Kartarpur, Arya and Sadiqabad areas.
More heavy rainfall has been predicted for Islamabad and Rawalpindi by the MET office.
