New Routes: PIA to run Kashgar flights from Aug 14

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has finalised plans to run flight operations to the Chinese city of Kashgar in collaboration with Rayyan Air.
The inaugural flight to Kashgar will take off on August 14. Two flights, PK 1855 and PK 1856, will be flying from Islamabad to Kashgar and back, every Wednesday on an A310 aircraft which has an economy class seating capacity of 223. The aircraft also has the capacity to carry 15 tonnes of cargo, according to a press communiqué.
Following the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Pakistan-China economic coordination, PIA had introduced the flight to Kashgar. The flight will not only generate revenue but also provide an additional avenue for business in Pakistan and China.
The air carrier’s managing director, Muhammad Junaid Yunus, said that since PIA was trying to maximise its revenue, it would introduce flights and increase the frequency of existing flights on profitable routes after induction of narrow body fuel efficient aircraft in its fleet.
