Explosion in city centre: Blast creates panic in Karachi
No one was hurt or killed in the explosion.
SWABI/PESHAWAR/ISLAMABAD/LAHORE/KARACHI:
Panic gripped Karachi following an explosion in the city’s busiest thoroughfare Shara-e-Faisal on Sunday evening.
No one was hurt or killed in the explosion, however.
Following this, extra contingent of law enforcers was called at the blast site and the area was cordoned off.
Citing initial investigation, police officials said that unidentified culprits apparently belonging to a banned outfit were behind the incident who tried to attack the residence of the Counter Terrorism and Financial Crime Unit chief of the Crime Investigation Department SSP Raja Omer Khattab.
DSP Malik Mohammad Ehsan told The Express Tribune said that there was no casualty in the explosion.
He further said that it was a low intensity blast caused, apparently by a locally made explosive.
