Twenty eight drown in separate incidents

The incidents took place in Taunsa Barrage, Head Sidhnai, Kund Park and Bin Qasim Karachi.

At least twenty eight people drowned in separate occasions on Saturday, Express News reported.

The incidents took place in Taunsa Barrage, Head Sidhnai, Kund Park and Bin Qasim Karachi, that saw a large influx of people on the occasion of Eid-dul-Fitr.

Rescue services have recovered one dead body from Taunsa barrage, while search for the others is currently on going. Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Sajjad, Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Aslam drowned, while Mohammad Amjad has been saved.

Sajid, Farooq and Adnan, three friends hailing from Khanewal, also lost their lives by drowning in the water. In another incident, a group from Multan including Attaur Rehman, Manzoor, Wasim Akram, Naseem and Abdul Khaliq drowned while bathing at Head Sidhnai near Khanewal. The body of Abdul Khaliq has been recovered.

Two people drowned due to high waters in Head Marala near Sialkot, while another six drowned in Bin Qasim Karachi. A further of nine people drowned in while bathing in Kund Park.

No security arrangements have been put in place near the river despite a heavy influx of visitors who have come to visit these areas in light of Eid-ul-Fitr, Express News correspondent Fayyaz Sheikh reported.
