Skilled labour: USAID contributes to training institute

TTC and a vocational training centre was established by Pakistan Chemical and Energy Sector Skill Development Company.

ISLAMABAD: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has collaborated in establishing a furnished accommodation facility for the students of the only technical training college situated in one of the largest oil and gas clusters of Pakistan, comprising 14 project areas in Daharki, Sindh. Despite having rich potential for jobs in energy sector and industries, the residents of these areas were deprived of technical education until the Technical Training College (TTC) Daharki was established to improve their employability in the energy sector, local industries as well as in the international market, said a press release on Thursday. The TTC and a vocational training centre was established by the Pakistan Chemical and Energy Sector Skill Development Company with the support of key players in Pakistan’s chemical and energy sector including Engro Foundation, Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), Mari Petroleum, STEVTA, ENI-Saipem of Itlay, DEG of Germany and Descon Enginering.
