Nawaz sets August 13 as deadline for new counter terror policy draft
Prime Minister directs Interior Minister to provide all possible assistance to victims of terror attacks.
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday told the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to finalise the draft of government's counter terror policy after Eid.
Nawaz called on his Interior Minister on Thursday to discuss the recent series terror-related incidents across the country.
The premier lamented the loss of lives, and condemned the terrorist attacks while commending the courage of law enforcement agencies.
Expressing his resolve in the fight against militants, Nawaz directed Nisar to present the final draft of the counter terrorism strategy by August 13, revising its earlier stated date of August 30.
The Interior Minister was also asked to provide all possible assistance to the families of the deceased and martyred.
Earlier in the day, a suicide blast during funeral prayers of SHO City Mohibullah at the Police Lines mosque claimed over 30 lives, including that of DIG Fayyaz Sumbal. Nawaz eulogised Sumbal and the other officers who had lost their lives in the blast. He vowed that their blood would not go in vain.
Correction: The government release had initially indicated August 30 as the deadline. The release was later revised to say the deadline was August 13.
