‘Fake’ degree: LHC seeks help on plea against Sarwar
Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffri told the court that Sarwar did not have an adequate education for the post.

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought assistance from an additional attorney general on Septmber 9 on a petition challenging the appointment of former British MP Chaudhary Sarwar as governor. Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffri told the court that Sarwar did not have an adequate education for the post. He produced a copy of Who’s Who which stated that Sarwar was a graduate of a Faisalabad university. Jaffri alleged that Sarwar had lied as there was there was only one agriculture university in Faisalabad at the time and it did not offer a bachelor’s degree. He said Sarwar was not eligible for the post of governor under Articles 62 and 63. The petitioner also said that Sarwar lacked knowledge about the province.
