Crackdown intensifies: 251 food outlets inspected by ICT health authorities
30 hotel and bakery owners challaned, 73 hotel and bakery owners were issued notices.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has intensified its ongoing drive against food adulteration in the capital, with special teams having recently conducted inspections of 251 food outlets.
On the directive of Islamabad Chief Commissioner Jawad Paul, the crackdown was launched in different areas of the capital, resulting in 30 hotel and bakery owners being challaned.
ICT Drug Inspector Shabbir Ahmed took 10 food item samples from the hotels and bakeries and sent them to the laboratory for analysis.
Ahmed also issued 73 notices to hotel and bakery owners for failing to comply with sanitation and hygiene rules. Four hotels and bakeries were sealed for failing to comply with the Pure Food Ordinance 1960.
Industrial Area Commissioner Imran Ali Sultan challaned Tehzeeb Bakers and Punjab Cash and Carry under the Pure Food Ordinance, for violating food laws including serving substandard and expired food items. Soda bottles and ketchup were among the items confiscated.
