Punjab Govt to divert funds for flood victims
Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, while talking to Express 24/7, said that Rs50 billion will be deducted from the Rs190 billion development budget. He said that instructions had already been issued to all the departments to set their priorities regarding development schemes.
The finance minister also revealed that the proposal of new taxes in the province had been rejected.
According to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, floods have affected 8.5 million people in the Punjab and caused Rs80 billion worth of damage.
