LONDON:
Singer Zayn Malik reportedly faced a racist attack when a song accusing him to be a 9/11 terrorist attack was uploaded online.

Malik, member of One Direction band, is born to British Pakistani father Yaser and an English mother. He became a target after a song, "Zayn Did 9/11", where the singer's silhouette superimposed over an image of the Sep 11 attacks, released online recently, reports mirror.co.uk

However, his loyal fans didn't leave his side as they were seen holding signs at his concerts, with "Zayn not Racist" written on it.

The 9/11 attacks were terrorist attacks on the US Sep 11, 2001.

The hugely offensive track is still available to download from the official iTunes store for just 79 pence despite an online petition to have it removed, has already over 200 signatures.

Correction: An earlier version of the article incorrectly mentioned that the September 11 attacks took place on September 9, 2001. The error is regretted.
