KARACHI: The city’s main thoroughfares and streets witnessed a bumper-to-bumper traffic jam for several hours on the first working day after the monsoon’s heavy rain. The neck-to-neck traffic jam badly affected parts of district South, including MA Jinnah Road, Sharae Faisal, Cantt Station, Lasbella, Sharae Liaquat, Clifton, DHA, II Chundrigar Road and many other areas. It also affected all the surrounding areas of district South, including Golimar Chowrangi, Nazimabad and Liaquatabad. The traffic jam started at around 3pm and later around 7pm in the evening. “Law enforcers should have helped us in the jam, rather they left the place,” said a citizen, Mohammad Hanif, who was stuck on MA Jinnah for at least two hours. IGP Shahid Nadeem Baloch directed Traffic DIG and Zonal SSPs to make sure they take urgent action. “This was the first working day of the week after a two-day break,” explained Traffic DIG Khalique Shaikh.
