Street criminals: More than 200 arrested till July

The police recovered 160 stolen cell phones and looted cash from these 226 arrested criminals.

The Islamabad police have arrested 226 people involved in street crimes during the first seven months of 2013 --- that comes out to around one person arrested for street crimes in the federal capital per day, on average.


The police recovered 160 stolen cell phones and looted cash from these 226 arrested criminals, a police spokesman said.

The police have also arrested 104 gamblers from the federal capital in 2013, so far. Authorities said the gamblers were arrested during raids on different parts of the city. Stake money and other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were recovered from the gamblers.

The police spokesman said Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan has directed all Sub-Divisional Police Officers and SHO to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions to prevent criminals from harming the public.
