Protest: ‘No electricity for 72 hours’
Protesters demanded that electricity supply be restored immediately.
BAHAWALPUR:
Hundreds of residents of Dilawar Colony on Sunday staged a demonstration to protest a breakdown of electricity supply.
The protestors blocked the Airport Road and demanded that electricity supply be restored immediately.
Fahim Anwar, one of the protestors, said that a faulty transformer had caused the breakdown on Thursday.
“A protest was staged on Friday after which electricity was restored for a few minutes,” he said.
“We staged another protest on Saturday after which WAPDA replaced the transformer...however, they took it away an hour later,” he said.
Neelam Ali, another protestor, said there was no water at her house.
The protest ended when police assured the protestors that electricity would be restored soon.
