GUJRANWALA:
In Aroop police station’s Pambooki area, a rival gang killed six members of a family over an old enmity.
Pambooki resident 75-year-old Muhammad Ramzan was sitting outside his house along with his sons and nephews when armed men opened fire on them and killed Ramzan, his two sons Muhammad Haleem (55), Muhammad Aslam (53), his nephew Muhammad Sharif (55) and son-in-law Muhammad Boota. Aslam, Ibrahim and 75-year-old Abdullah were seriously injured in the encounter. Later in the day, Abdullah succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital. Rescue officials and police reached the scene and the injured were sent to the civil hospital but the family initially did not allow police to remove the bodies from the scene because they believed ‘black magic’ to have been used in the murder. Civil line superintendent police (SP) Mubashir Makeen, district superintendent police (DSP) Cantt Tofeeq Khan, Aroop station house officer (SHO) Zulfiqar Chatha reached the scene and shifted the bodies to the hospital for an autopsy after negotiations with the family. A case was initially registered against the affected family for killing ‘sorcerer’ Bawa Allah Data but those killed were found innocent after an inquiry. According to locals in Deh, the alleged murderers were chased out of the village several months ago after being accused of practicing black magic.
