Doctor’s Murder Case: ATC issues black warrants for LeJ men

ATC ordered jail authorities to hang LeJ men by neck till death on August 20 and 21.

KARACHI:
Anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday reissued black warrants for two prisoners on death row for killing a Shia doctor after the stay granted by the president on earlier execution orders expired. Two activists of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), Attaullah alias Qasim and Mohammad Azam alias Sharif were sentenced to death in 2004 after an ATC found them guilty of killing a Shia doctor, Ali Raza Peerani. The jail authorities had approached the ATC to issue fresh orders, after the previous death warrants had expired. Judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon of the ATC-III issuing fresh black warrants for the LeJ men ordered jail authorities to hang them by neck till death on August 20 and 21 after completing legal formalities.
