SHC sends second notice to Mly estate office, cantt

Residents allege that the CBC and DHA violated environmental laws in the construction of the flyover.

KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) sent another notice to the Military Estates Officer and CEO Clifton Cantonment Board, Karachi through the relevant SHO with directions to produce them in court for a hearing on the Gizri flyover case.

Residents of Khayaban-e-Hafiz, DHA, alleged that the CBC and DHA had violated environmental laws in the construction of the Gizri flyover in Phase V and had ignored rulings by the Supreme Court, SHC and Sindh Environmental Protection Agency. The flyover starts from Submarine Chowrangi and goes to Khayaban-e-Tanzeem.

Earlier on, the court had directed DHA and the CBC to carpet the road and install streetlights around and under the newly constructed flyover.

At the last hearing, the SHC had issued notice to the Military Estates Officer and CEO CBC to appear in court on October 4 but nobody came for the hearing.

The SHC division bench sent another notice to these quarters to ensure their presence on October 18. Deputy Attorney General Mian Khan Malik was told to make sure the court order was obeyed.
