ECB denies raising fixing concerns

In some respite following the match-fixing allegations in the One-Day International series between Pakistan and the West Indies, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has given assurances that the accusations made were baseless.
The Daily Mail, a British newspaper, had raised concerns regarding the nature in which the series was played, claiming that the International Cricket Council’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) was set to investigate alleged ‘wrong doings’.
The report mentioned ‘suspicious betting patterns’ and also quoted the ECB information manager, Chris Watts, raising concerns.
Watts’ mention in the story prompted the Pakistan board to contact their ECB counterparts.
“The PCB has received assurance from ECB,” read a Pakistan Cricket Board media release. “ECB has not passed any judgment on Pakistan cricket and neither suggested that there was anything to be concerned about during the series.”
