Setting the ground: Pakistan open to any peace settlement in Afghanistan
Nawaz Sharif says his government desires a strong and cooperative relationship with the US.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday reiterated Pakistan's desire for a strong and cooperative relationship with the United States of America, and would support any initiative for peace in Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister in a meeting with US Ambassador Richard Olson, said that Pakistan was committed to all initiatives designed to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Nawaz also shared with Olson the outcome of advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz's recent visit to Kabul.
The meeting also discussed the upcoming visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry, who is likely to visit Pakistan in the next few days.
“The Prime Minister also conveyed to Ambassador Olson that he looked forward to receive Secretary Kerry and in addition to sharing views on the present state of the relationship, also wanted to share a vision of bilateral relations in the future.”
Sources told The Express Tribune that Nawaz also raised the issue of collateral damage by drone strikes, with the hope that the Secretary of State would be able to address Pakistan's concerns.
