High-profile case: Court turns down prison change application

District and Sessions Judge Shaibar Khan turned down a request made by Khalid Khan to shift him to the ‘B Class’ section of Central Prison Peshawar.



Khan, who is accused of killing former Islamabad police chief’s daughter Wahida, filed an application before the court of Justice Shaibar Khan stating he was a qualified person and was held on false allegations. The petition requested he be shifted to the ‘B Class’ section of the prison. The request, however, was turned down by the court.

Meanwhile, Justice Shaibar Khan set free 40 people imprisoned for petty crimes during his visit to Central Prison Peshawar. He was accompanied by Judicial Magistrate Zafarullah Khan, a member of the NGO Sparc, public prosecutor Qaisar Khan and child protection officer Naveeda Naaz.
