Defamation: SHC issues notice to Imran Khan
MQM had filed a defamation suit claiming Rs5 billion in damages and an apology from the PTI chairman.
KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday issued a notice to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan for using allegedly derogatory and inflammatory language against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.
MQM had filed a defamation suit claiming Rs5 billion in damages and an apology from the PTI chairman.
Farooq Sattar, the party’s leader who had filed the suit, named PTI and its chairman Imran Khan as defendants.
Barrister Farogh Naseem for MQM said that a PTI worker, Zahra Shahid, was murdered on May 18, but, Imran gave a statement from his hospital bed, holding Altaf Hussain responsible for murder.
