Secondary School Certificate: Lahore Board announces matric exam results
The pass percentage was 66.36 per cent this year.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) on Thursday formally announced results the secondary school certificate examinations (SSE).
Lahore BISE Chairman Nasrullah Virk made the official announcement of the results. Examinations Controller Anwar Farooq announced the total pass percentage of 66.36 per cent.
A total of 210,145 students had applied for the exam, but 208,731 candidates sat for it. As many as 138,531 students passed the exam.
As many as 106,984 candidates appeared for science group examinations and 86,107 students succeeded bringing the pass percentage to 80.8 percent. This is almost two per cent lower than last year’s pass percentage.
As many as 103,161 candidates sat in the examinations for humanities group, of which 52,424 candidates succeeded bringing the pass percentage to 51.3 per cent - a one per cent increase from last year.
Almost 17,486 candidates secured A+ grade; 20,595 secured A grade; 32,138 secured B grade; 41,405 secured C grade C; 25,393 got D grade while 1,151 candidates managed E grade.
Virk said the board was making efforts to ensure a fully functional computerised system.
“The aim is to ensure an online connection between students and the board without having to physically visited the offices,” he said.
Virk said the online and SMS results access system were developed to facilitate the candidates.
The Lahore BISE activated their online and SMS results service soon after the official announcements were made at almost 10 am at the Alhamra Hall. Students could get a detailed breakdown of their SSE scores by sending in their roll numbers to 80029 or by visiting the board’s website.
The position holders
Kainat Akram secured the overall top position with a score of 1,028 marks. Akram is determined to pursue medicine.
Muhammad Rohail Tariq stood second in the SSE 2013 by scoring 1,026 marks. He aspires to be a neurosurgeon.
“I have always wanted to be a doctor,” Tariq says. “I managed to score well. My dream appears within reach now.”
Maryam Farman and Khush Bakht of the Divisional Public Higher Secondary School for Girls share not just the same score, 1,025, but also future plans.
Both plan to study medicine.
“I haven’t decided what kind of a doctor I want to become, but there’s still time to make that decision,” Farman says.
The ceremony was chaired by MNA Hamza Shahbaz.
Shahbaz said the success of students was a testament to the efforts of their parents.
He said the Punjab government was working on several initiatives and promote education on merit.
The Punjab government, he said, aspired to create a Sports University in the future to professionally train youth interested in sporting activities.
Akram was awarded a gold medal, and presented a laptop and Rs20,000 cash. Tariq was awarded a silver medal and given Rs15,000 cash.
Maryam and Khush Bakht were awarded bronze medals and Rs10,000 cash.
