Shiite scholars call for lesser US influence

Participants of the conference ask that drone attacks and cross border violation by NATO forces be immediately stopped

ISLAMABAD:
Shiite scholars at the national Shia conference on Sunday passed a unanimous resolution against the increased influence of US in the region.

This conference was organised by Majlis-e-Wahdatul-Muslimeen (MWM) and participants asked that drone attacks and cross border violation by NATO forces by immediately stopped.

They said that any action on part of the government to limit Shiite processions would be opposed. General Secretary of MWM Raja Nasir Abbas said, “Shias and Sunnis have toiled hard in the creation of this country, we shall now work together to foil the nefarious designs of the US forces.”

The participants expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the country and the government’s failure in tackling it.

“Incumbent rulers have a sense of insecurity, how can they provide security to the masses,” said President Shia Action Committee Mirza Yousuf Hussain.
