ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner Jawad Paul on Wednesday directed capital administration officials to expedite the process of computerising land record in the rural areas.

Paul and Deputy Commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed reviewed the Land Record Management Information System Project at the Bhara Kahu Union Council, where they were briefed about the project’s progress by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Farasat Ali Khan.

The project’s objectives are to improve land management and planning mechanisms and to make revenue records transparent and accessible online.

Beyond this, computerised land record data would be used to launch economic and social sector-related initiatives.

Khan informed the officials that the records of 24 villages in the capital’s rural areas had been computerised and several patwaris (revenue officials) had also undergone basic computer training.

In the next phase, Khan said records of Jandala and Rihara villages, in Bhara Kahu’s jurisdiction would be computerised.

Four service centres have also been proposed at Bhara Kahu Union Council, Shah Allah Ditta, Sihala and Tarlai to facilitate the public in matters relating to land revenue and reduce litigation cases.
