To get good photographs of a mother and her newborn child, you don't have to hire a professional photographer. Just get the tricks right and let your husband do the job.

Lighting: If the room is dim lit, don't even think about using the camera flash. Babies aren't fond of it. You can use natural light by opening window.


Timing: When the baby is feeling uneasy or looking grumpy, don't use the camera to capture the moment. Always catch the baby after he or she has been fed. Sleeping time is also good for taking good shots.

Focus on firsts: It is not necessary that all the things around the child is pretty and attractive. There are times when they get attached to a particular thing like an old stuff toy. Make sure to take photos with that as it is the first thing your child got attached to.

Change background: Use different backgrounds to make your photos stand out from others. Place a cushion underneath the baby to make your shot look different.
