KARACHI:

A district and sessions court has extended the physical custody remand of the three Rangers personnel, facing charges for the alleged extra-judicial killing of a taxi driver, till July 25.

Erum Jahangir, a judicial magistrate in district East, remanded the physical custody of the Rangers personnel, Ghulam Rasool, Barkat Ali, Waqar and Qadeer, to the police after they were produced before the court. The judge directed the investigation officer to submit the charge-sheet against them at the next hearing.

Mureed Ali, alias Murad Ali, a 36-year-old taxi driver, was allegedly shot dead by Rangers personnel near his Gulistan-e-Jauhar residence for reportedly not stopping his vehicle after he was signalled to stop. The case regarding the murder of the father of two has been registered against the Rangers personnel at the Gulistan-e-Johar police station on the complaint of his widow, Dua.
