Food And Drug Testing: Punjab to get five new labs

Punjab government releases a grant of Rs150 million for the project.

LAHORE:
Three drug testing laboratories are being established in Multan, Rawalpindi and Lahore while two food testing laborites will be set up in Faisalabad and Rawalpindi for which the Punjab government has released a grant of Rs150 million, according to Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman. Citing improper food storage and violation of hygiene requirement, the provincial minister said the Punjab government would ensure the supply of standardised medicines to people and implement relevant laws to prevent dangerous diseases. The minister also asked the doctors to launch a comprehensive campaign against communicable and non-communicable diseases especially in rural areas.
