Illegal appointments: Former DG parks challenges his removal

He claimed that incumbent DG does not possess the requisite qualification and that his appointment was unlawful.

KARACHI:

The former director general (DG) parks, Abdullah Mushtaq, has challenged the appointment of the incumbent director general of the city government’s park and horticulture department in the Sindh High Court. A division bench, headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai, adjourned the hearing of the case to a date to be fixed after the counsel for the petitioner did not press application for urgent hearing.

The petitioner contended that chief secretary, through the notification issued on June 25, appointed Muhammad Sadiq Rajar as DG of the department. He claimed that incumbent DG does not possess the requisite qualification and that his appointment was unlawful. He added that appointee’s graduate degree in agriculture was lawful but the incumbent did not have any such qualification.

According to the petitioner,  he was posted as DG parks on June 20 but was removed five days after his appointment and Rajar was appointed illegally in his place. He prayed to the court to declare the notification of appointment of director general parks as illegal and allow him to complete his tenure.
