Govt considering release of Abbottabad Commission Report: Pervaiz Rashid
Rashed says a committee led by former law minister Farooq H. Naek had recommended against releasing the report.
ISLAMABAD:
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rasheed said on Saturday that the government was considering the possibility of releasing a copy of the Abbottabad Commission Report on Pakistan’s intelligence failures in the Osama bin Laden killing, Radio Pakistan reported.
The information minister said that a Ministerial Committee led by former Law Minister Farooq H Naek had recommended against its publication.
Rasheed has already said that the government will probe how a copy of the report was leaked to the media. He had also denied that a copy of the report had gone missing from the prime minister's office.
Presidential nominees
The information minister said that the Prime Minister would announce the names of the presidential candidate of the PML-N and the names of the governors.
Anti terror efforts
Rasheed said that the government had improved its intelligence coordination that will lead to a success in anti-terrorism efforts.
He pointed out that a terrorist gang caught in Karachi which is a major success.
Rashid said that the prime minister had already started taking briefings from concerned agencies about Pakistan’s national security strategy.
