BAHAWALPUR/ FAISALABAD:


District Coordination Officer Najam Ahmad Shah on Saturday set up a coordination cell to streamline the campaign against electricity and gas theft.


The district officer (human resources management) will head the cell. Its members include representatives from police, the Federal Investigation Agency, the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company and the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.

The cell will gather information about electricity and gas theft and order raids under the supervision of the assistant commissioner concerned.

The cell will keep close liaison with the raiding teams.

It will also be responsible for examining the legal status of the industrial and commercial units found involved in gas or electricity theft.

The coordination cell will also ensure proper investigation of the cases of gas and electricity theft. The cell in-charge will maintain a database of the anti theft campaign and send it to the authorities concerned on a daily basis.

SNGPL announces crackdown on theft

The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has announced that it is launching a crackdown against gas theft in Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan and Lodhran districts. SNGPL Regional Manager Bahadur Khan Bughti announced the crackdown on CNG stations and industries where gas theft was reported.

He said Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited has prepared a list of suspects against whom action would be taken in the next 24 hours.
