Heinous crime: Woman killed for seeking divorce
She was shot eight times shortly before entering a court.

A woman, who was seeking a divorce, was killed by her husband in Lodhran on Friday as she was about to enter the court for a hearing. He was arrested as he tried to flee.
Police said Sadu Mai, a resident of Jadeedlanwali in Kehror Pucca, had married Muhammad Zia 15 years ago. They had four children. Police quoted her mother, Pathani Mai, as saying that after the birth of their fourth child their relationship deteriorated. She said he had taken to beating her and accusing her of loose morals.
She said Sadu Mai had decided to seek divorce, although her parents had advised against it.
On Friday, when Sadu Mai was on her way to the court, Zia shot her eight times, killing her on the spot.
He then tried to flee, but was caught.
Man kills wife for talking over the phone
A newly married woman was murdered allegedly by her husband in Bahawalpur for talking over the phone.
The woman’s father, Khadim Hussain, a resident of Chak 88-DB, told police that his daughter Kiran had married Iqbal Ahmad, a resident of Liaquatpur, a few weeks ago. He said Ahmad used to stop her from talking to her family on the cell phone.
On Thursday night, Hussain said, Kiran was on the phone with her family, when Ahmad saw her. He struck her with an axe, killing her on the spot. He said his family heard her scream over the phone as he attacked her. He said they rushed to the couple’s house and found her dead.
Police said Ahmad had fled. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
