MULTAN:

A woman gave birth to quadruplets on Thursday at a private clinic in Mian Channu.  Doctors said the woman and the four babies- three boys and a girl- were all doing fine.

Farzana Bibi, 28, a resident of Chak 16/14-L, who had had a normal delivery this time, said she had twice had triplets with a difference of two years. In her first pregnancy in 2009, she said the triplets were still born. In her second pregnancy in 2011 they were under-weight and died shortly afterwards.

Her gynaecologist, Dr Rafiq, told The Express Tribune that she had had a healthy pregnancy this time. She had not taken any extra medication. He said she could go home in 24 hours.

Farzana said she was extremely happy. She said she planned to distribute sweets in the entire village.

“I am grateful to God for blessing us with healthy children. The loss of my children in the past had been very depressing,” she said talking to The Express Tribune.

Farzana said she had visited the hospital late on Wednesday night, where she had had her first ultrasound.

“I found out just last night that I was going to become a mother of four,” she said.

Farzana’s husband, who is a daily wager, is implicated in an assault case in which he attacked a man depriving him of an eye. While he is currently on bail, Farzana said she hoped the children would prove lucky for him and that he would be acquitted from the case.
